Bessie Lee Hurley

Bessie Lee Hurley, age 97, of Troy died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy. Bessie was born August 20, 1916 at Randolph County, NC, the daughter of William and the Effie Hall Hurley. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Troy and a retired 35 year employee of Gilead Manufacturing. Bessie loved gardening, cooking and fishing. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings: Lucille Luther, Nellie Bullard, Lewis Hurley, Ralph Hurley and Inez Johnson. She is survived by two daughters: Merle H Harris of Troy, Barbara Morris and husband, David of Wadeville; one son: Wallace Hurley and wife, Joan of Asheboro; grandchildren: Floyd Hicks, Dana Harris, Angela Davis, David Morris, Jr. and Alan Hurley; great-grandchildren: Jason Harris, Wendy Hicks, Brian Hicks, Abigail Morris and Hope Davis; great-great-grandchildren: Clara Hicks, Carver Hicks, Jake and Andy Harris. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at 893 N. Main St., Troy. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 pm at First Wesleyan Church, 1368 NC Highway 134 North, Troy with Pastor Brian C Wardlaw officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
