Bertie Richardson Johnson

Bertie Richardson Johnson, age 85, of Troy died Friday, July 04, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Mrs. Johnson was born March 31, 1929 at Mt. Gilead, NC, the daughter of Charlie Franklin and Mary Carpenter Roberts Richardson. She was a member of Hamer Creek Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead and also attended West Asheboro Baptist Church. She was retired from Galey & Lord in Asheboro. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James W. "J.W." Johnson and her son, David Lee Johnson and his wife, Kim. She was the last of 12 children. She is survived by her daughters, Penny J. Harris of Troy, Virginia Dianne Garrison of Archdale, and Lydia Gail Johnson of Troy; son, Eric Neal Johnson and his wife, Lisa of Archdale; grandchildren, Eric Johnson and his wife Jennifer of Asheboro, Virginia Johnson of Asheboro, Cindy Brown and her husband, Jeremy of Yokosuka, Japan, Charlene Elliott and her husband Mark of Sophia, Lee Ann Kern and her husband Brian of Archdale, Mark Garrison of Archdale, Jeremy Johnson and his wife Amanda of Trinity, Angela Armstrong and her husband Todd of McCordsville, IN, Mike Rogers and his wife Laura of Hillsborough, Heather Shuford and her husband Robbie of Stafford, VA, Dale and Kirk Harris, both of Troy; 22 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, July 7, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with Rev. Samuel K. Hicks and Rev. Charles Bryant officiating.
