Bertie Mae Cole

Bertie Mae Davis Cole, age 91, of Asheboro died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Center Cross Baptist Church, 1789 Center Cross Church Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Grant Hoffman and Rev. Scott Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cole was born in Randolph County on October 30, 1923 to Roy and Ida Farrington Davis. She worked in the textile industry and was a homemaker. Bertie was a long time member of Center Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Bertie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Huston Cole, brothers Edgar, Elsworth, James, and Charles Davis, and sisters Virginia Auman, Ruby Sikes, Helen Carter, and Peggy Inman. She enjoyed yard work, planting flowers, making homemade fried apple pies, and spending time with her great granddaughters. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis C. Bostick and husband Don of Asheboro; granddaughter, Maria Owens and husband Joshua of Troy; great granddaughters, Liliann Owens and Abralyn Owens both of Troy; brother, Roy Jesse "R.J." Davis, Jr. of Climax; sisters, Dorthine Brown of Asheboro, Evona Coble of Franklinville, and Sue Hackett and husband Bill of Conway, SC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.
