Bertha Cox Owens, age 88, of Giles Chapel Rd., Asheboro died Friday, July 31, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 3:00 pm at First Wesleyan Church- Randleman with Rev. Don Hurlburt and Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Mrs. Owens was a native of Randolph County and was formerly employed with Tie Rite Neckware and Rampon Hosiery. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church-Randleman, the Best Years Fellowship at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church, the Randolph County Senior Steppers and the McDonald's Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Crissie Luther Cox and her husband, Esco Owens. She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Asbill and her husband Tony of Asheboro, Barbara Ward and her husband Larry of Asheboro; son, Howard Owens and his wife Annette of Asheboro; grandchildren, Brian Asbill and his wife Tracey of Cary, Craig Asbill of Charlotte, Kimberly Depro and her husband Brooks of Apex, Chris Owens of Murfreesboro, Cameron Ward of Hilton Head, SC, Jennie Allmon and her husband Brian of Asheboro, Justin Owens of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Matthew Asbill, Katie Asbill, Noah Depro, Aaron Depro, Todd Allmon, Megan Allmon, Owen Allmon, Landon Allmon. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC, other times at the home of her son, Howard Owens, Giles Chapel Rd., Asheboro.
