Benjamin "Benny" Deberry McKinnon, age 77, of 333 Yank Road, Mt. Gilead died Monday, July 9, 2012 at his home.
Benny was born February 22, 1935 at Montgomery County, NC, the son of David D and Catherine Watkins McKinnon. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Gilead and a farmer. He was a retired US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post #92 of Mt. Gilead. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Graffa McKinnon who passed away on July 4, 2005.
Benny is survived by one daughter: Catrina M. Tucker and husband, Richard of Mt Gilead; one son: Benny McKinnon, II and wife, Alicia of Mt. Gilead; three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. A memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 206 North Main Street, Mt Gilead with Rev. Leila E. Evans officiating. Inurnment, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard, will follow in Sharon Cemetery, NC Hwy 731 E., Mt. Gilead.
