Baxter Monroe Routh, age 81, of 2219 Silver Springs Rd., Sophia died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro. Mr. Routh was preceded in death by his wife Mozelle Hooker Routh. He was born in Randolph County, NC on October 25, 1929 to Malcolm Monroe and Rosa Mae Lamb Routh, who also preceded him in death. He was the owner/operator of Baxter Routh Masonry Contractor performing industrial and commercial masonry throughout the state. Baxter was a partner in Routh Builders doing home construction in Randolph and Guilford Counties. He is survived by his sons, Steven Routh and his wife Nancy of Raleigh, NC, Jimmy Routh and his wife Sue of Sophia, NC,; grandchildren, Jonathan Charles Routh MD and his wife Jennifer of Boston, MA, Stephanie Routh Clark and her husband Nathan of Durham, NC; great grandchildren Anna Emily Routh of Boston , MA, Natalie Helen Routh of Boston, MA, Owen Reed Clark of Durham, NC; sister, Ella Mae Cooper of Asheboro, NC; and very special friend, Valda Cranford of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Jimmy and Sue Routh, 2259 Silver Springs Rd., Sophia.
