Barbara Kiesewetter York

Barbara Kiesewetter York, 83, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Randolph Hospital. Born on October 31, 1930, to the late Ernest and Ruth Kiesewetter, Barbara spent her life in Asheboro. An animal lover, Barbara was an avid supporter of the North Carolina Zoo. She also enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to see much of the world in the latter part of her life. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen B. York, Jr., and her grandson, Stephen A. Bowden. Surviving are her son Stephen B. York, III (Dawn) of Durham, Linda Y. Bowden of Burlington, E. Bruce York (Ann) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Kam Y. Elliott of Clinton, MT, grandchildren Antonia (Corey), Seth, Samantha, Ashley, Casey, Kara, and Heidi, and great granddaughter Luciana. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, there will be no visitation. The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Asheboro Zoological Society. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is assisting the York family.
