Barbara Jean Trogdon

d. September 9, 2016

Franklinville - Barbara Jean Routh Trogdon went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 9, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Barbara was born to the late John Page and Vallie Thomas Routh on April 1, 1939 at Randolph Hospital. Barbara always liked to tell the story that she was born on April Fool's Day and her Daddy said she fooled them by being a girl and they fooled the doctor into thinking he would get paid. Barbara married Richard Trogdon on February 24, 1957. She graduated from Grays Chapel School May, 1957. Together Richard and Barbara started Faith Temple Baptist Church in 1971 at their home. Faith Temple grew to over 600 members. She was the most incredible preacher's wife until Richard passed away in June, 1996. Barbara was always active in church as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, AWANA and VBS leader. She had a special place in her heart for other preacher's wives and would share advice with them for many years. She cared for others all of her life especially her family. For twenty five years she was a child nutritionist making sure that children at Randleman and Level Cross Elementary were fed and taken care of. Every year she would memorize many of the children's lunch numbers in case they forgot it. She retired in 2002 from Randolph County Schools and then delivered meals on wheels, and sang in nursing homes. Barbara was pretty famous for her persimmon puddings, pumpkin rolls and cherry yum-yum which she loved to fix and share with others. Barbara was a huge animal lover and had horses, goats, cats and dogs. She nursed many orphaned squirrels, rabbits, and birds back to health and let them live a long and healthy life at her home. She had a green thumb for all kinds of flowers, plants as well as in the garden. She was humble, generous, and meek to a fault with a huge sense of humor and the kind of woman who would give you her last penny if you needed it. Loved ones that will miss Barbara are her husband Lacy Gallimore married March 28, 2005, son Richard Trogdon Jr and wife Teresa of Randleman, NC , daughters Cindy Daniels and husband Nelson of Franklinville NC, Krista Childress and husband Gary of Franklinville NC, sons Aaron Trogdon and wife Anita of Franklinville NC, Jason Trogdon and wife Kathy of Randleman NC. She had nine grandchildren Rebecca Bartell, Justin Trogdon, Jennifer Daniels, Roger Cross Jr., Preston Cross, Paige Johnson, Caleb Trogdon, Morgan Trogdon and Chase Trogdon as well as fifteen great grandchildren, sisters Willa Dean Brown and husband Wiley and Phyllis York and husband DM. In addition to her parents and her first husband Richard she was preceded in death by her brothers Worth Routh, Bobby Routh, and great grandson Braxton Cross. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:45 pm Sunday, Sept 11, 2016 at Faith Temple Baptist Church 3075 Mack Lineberry Rd, Franklinville. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm. with Pastor Harold McMillan officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Randolph Hospice House 446 Vision Drive, Asheboro NC 27203 who so caringly helped Barbara and her family in her last days.
