Barbara Owens

Barbara Owens, 67, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017. Barbara was a native of Lumberton, NC and a Yorktown resident since 1982. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family. She opened her heart and home to her friends and the children who called her 'Mom'. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and working with arts and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Arcina Broadaway and a sister Margaret (Faye) Tedder. She is survived by her husband of 47 wonderful years James H. Owens; a daughter Jennifer Anderson (Eric) of Yorktown; a son James Brian Owens (Amy) of Toano and 2 grandsons, Connor Owens and Alex Higgins (Jessica). The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 10, at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave, Asheboro, NC with burial to follow in Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 7:00 to 8:00 at Pugh Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
