Barbara "Bobbie" Louise Durham Blackmon, age 83, of Asheboro died Monday, August 10, 2015 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation.
Ms. Blackmon was born December 29, 1931 in Woodruff, SC to Robert and Ruby Durham. She was formerly employed as a waitress and loved her job and meeting the customers. She had worked at several restaurants in Asheboro including Golden Corral, Ryan's Steakhouse, Sir Robert and Blue Mist. Ms. Blackmon was also formerly employed with Olan Mills Studio. She was an avid NASCAR fan with her favorite driver being Jimmie Johnson and also enjoyed listening to her favorite country artist, Scotty McCreery. Ms. Blackmon was a loving mother,grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Ms. Blackmon was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Durham, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Macon and husband Darrell of Trinity, Elaine Griffin and husband Darrell of Level Cross, Vicki Rutledge of Asheboro, Dixie Coble of Randleman, Susan Norman and husband Eddie of Asheboro, Teresa Brown and husband Johnny of Randleman, Anita Hammer and fiance Phillip Moreland of Coleridge; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Redding of SC, Judy Kay and husband Ken of Ark; brother, Carl Durham and wife Linda of SC; sister-in-law, Martha Durham of SC.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. J. York officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
