Baines Harold Caudill, Sr., age 93, of Asheboro died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Caudill was born July 26, 1922 the son of Robert Lee and Annie Mae Caudill.
Baines was a native of Montgomery County and served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from Union Carbide. Baines was an early member of West Side Fire Department, a member of Providence Friends Meeting, and had previously attended West Bend United Methodist Church in Asheboro for many years. After retirement, Baines helped his son in his landscaping business, Caudill Landscaping and delivered tomatoes for Farlow Produce where he was known as "Mater Man". He was a full time PaPaw and would do whatever they wanted him to do. Baines was often found piddling in the yard which he enjoyed. In addition to his parents, Baines is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Thompson Caudill,; 8 brothers, Tyrell, Poe, Woodrow, Ray, R.L., S.G., Vance and Mitchell Caudill.
He is survived by his sons: Baines Harold Caudill, Jr. of the home and Steven Caudill and his wife Michelle of Franklinville; grandchildren: Leanne Caudill, Nathan Caudill and Sarah Caudill; 1 great granddaughter; sisters: Annie Mae Kern of Asheboro, and Virginia Owens of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 3, 2016 from 6 – 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Dr. Rodney Ottwell officiating. Military honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard.
