Arnold Thomas Wright, age 90, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Mr. Wright was born in Asheboro on September 21, 1925 to Henry Thomas and Annie York Wright. Arnold served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was formerly employed with Hardin's Furniture and with the Civil Service for 24 years, retiring from the VA Hospital in Salisbury. Arnold was a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting. In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Prevost Wright, brother Grady Wright, and sisters Margaret Moran and Doris Hunt. Arnold loved the beach and enjoyed vacationing there with his family, being "Poppy" to his grandsons and great granddaughters brought much enjoyment to his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Jane W. Clayton and husband Ronald of Asheboro, Beth W. Baker and husband David of Asheboro; grandsons, Matthew Baker and wife Karen of Asheboro, Spencer Clayton and wife Jessica of Asheboro; and great granddaughters, Madelyn, Macie, and Mia Baker.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Thames officiating. Burial will be held in Randolph Memorial Park.
