Arnold Clayton Maness, age 76, of Covington, GA died Monday, April 29, 2013 at Rockdale Medical Center, Conyers, GA.
Arnold Clayton Maness was born January 1, 1937 in Moore County, North Carolina where he grew up and attended nearby Asheboro High School. In his early years, he worked at hosiery knitting mills. Arnold went on to marry Sarah Prevette and eventually moved to Florida.
After moving to Florida, Arnold worked and lived in the Miami area for approximately 30 years. After working in all facets of construction, Arnold received a constructor's license for high rise developments. Many jobs were done with his brother, Farrell, who later moved back to North Carolina. In 1974, Arnold moved to Lake Placid, Florida to work in duplex development.
Upon moving to Lake Placid, he met Gertrude Buck, and they were married on August 9, 1975. In 1981, the family moved to Tampa, Florida for eight years and then to the Atlanta, Georgia area where Arnold lived out the duration of his days. He died April 29, 2013 in Covington, Georgia.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude Maness of Covington, Ga.; 5 children: Lawrence Allen Maness of Loxahatchchee, Fl., Karen Cicio of Micanopy, Fl., Albert Maness of Smyrna, Ga., Gertrude Bryant of Covington, Ga., and Adam Maness of Smyrna, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Clara Brooks of Asheboro, NC, Sally Routh of Sophia, NC; many other family members, and countless friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Union Grove Baptist Church, 7912 Union Grove Church Road, Seagrove with Buddy Maness and Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
