Arnold Barnes Davis, age 89, of Asheboro died Sunday, May 1, 2016.
Mr. Davis was born in Ramseur on December 7, 1926 to John Henry and Mollie Horner Davis. He attended Wake Forest University on a basketball scholarship. He served his country in the U.S. Army after WWII during the reconstruction in Europe and was a retired Army Reservist. Arnold was a member of Browers Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a former deputy sheriff with the Randolph County Sheriff Office and was retired from the Department of the Army. Arnold was a member of the Ramseur Masonic Lodge #444 and American Legion Post 45. In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his wife Jacksie Scott Davis and daughter Susan Shackley.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Davis and wife Kay of Ellerbe, Mark Davis of Dahlonega, GA, Tim and wife Jo Ann of Clayton; grandchildren, Jennifer Shackley, Nikki DeMers, Mandy McCarty, Erin Davis, Natalie Davis, Micah Davis, Kaiti Davis, and John Henry Davis II; 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Ramseur with masonic rites and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
