Arlene Russell Nooe, age 82, of Troy, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at her residence.
Arlene was born October 17, 1933 in Montgomery County, the daughter of James Aaron and Doris E. Hunsucker Russell.
She was a life-long member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was always willing to serve in any area needed. She was a member of the Adult Choir, Sunday School teacher, WMU member and VBS refreshment server. She loved her church and church family dearly and was well known for her chocolate pound cakes and peanut butter oatmeal cookies.
Arlene was a former employee of the furniture and hosiery industries. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years: Howard Nooe; an infant daughter, Phyllis Jean Nooe; her siblings: Cleo Russell, Reginald Russell and Brenda Blake.
She is survived by one daughter: Debra (Debbie) Russell and husband Frank of Troy; two sons: Eston R. (Buck) Nooe of Statesville, Wayne Nooe and wife Amy of Williamsburg, VA; seven grandchildren and 7great-grandchildren; two sisters: Elgie Garner of Robbins and Jane Thomas of Troy; three brothers: Jones Franklin “Frankie” Russell, Rayvon Russell and Larry Russell, all of Troy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Troy; other times at the home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 412 Bell St., Troy with Pastor Mark Harper and Rev. Jerry Mabry officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.
