Arlen Lockhart

Arlen Lockhart, age 84, of Sophia died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his home. Mr. Lockhart was born January 20, 1931 the son of John and Barbara Allen Lockhart. Arlen was a native of Pike County, Ky., and served in the US Army. After the army he moved to West Virginia where he was a coal miner for 35 years. In his younger days Arlen enjoyed shooting pool, however he is more recently known for his love of fishing and repairing cars. In addition to his parents, Arlen is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Barbara Ann Snow Lockhart, 4 sisters, 3 brothers and 1 grandchild. He is survived by five daughters: Mary Phillips and her husband James of Sophia, Caroline Lockhart of Kernersville, Laura Vanderburg and her husband Jeff of Kernersville, Sheila Myers of Lake Wales, FL, and Brenda Bailey and her husband Robert of Princeton, WV.; one son: John Lockhart and his wife Melissa of Winter Haven, FL.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister: Ellie Christian of Princeton, WV. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 1:00 - 1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with Pastor Doug Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors performed by Randolph County Honor Guard. The family would like to thank the nurses from Hospice of Randolph County for all of the compassionate care given to Arlen during this time.
