Ardist Waynard Holyfield, Jr., age 69, of Sophia passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Holyfield was born in Moore County on September 11, 1946 to Ardist Waynard and Wanda Webster Holyfield. Ardist served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, Ardist was preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Holyfield.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Pineda Holyfield; daughter, Jessica Holyfield (Jason) Blackwell of Randleman; sons, Ardist Waynard Holyfield III of Randleman, David Michael Holyfield of Sophia; Patrick Allen (Kandis) Holyfield of Thomasville; grandson, Vincent Blackwell; brother, Danny Holyfield of Denton, TX; sisters, Linda Faye Berriman of Asheboro and Traci Kaman of Sophia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 29, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St .Joseph Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Ave., Asheboro. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
