Archie Lincoln Parnell

Archie Lincoln (A.L.) Parnell, age 94, of Troy died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Parnell was born September 13, 1923 in Mt. Gilead, NC the son of the late Adam Lincoln and Kate Elizabeth (Blue) Parnell.

He served in the Army during World War II.

A.L. Parnell was a native of Montgomery County. He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church and was a Deacon there for more than 60 years. His marriage to his wife Janie was the first wedding held at Laurel Hill Baptist Church on December 18, 1949. He was self employed in tractor sales and marketing.

He is survived by his wife: Janie Batten Parnell; three daughters: Bonnie P. Hittepole and husband Robert, of Troy, NC, Pat Parnell Blake and husband Mike, of Troy, NC and Angela Pettus and husband Richard, of Morganton, NC; one sister: Phyllis Parnell of Mt. Gilead, NC; three brothers: Phillip Parnell and wife Dot, of Denton, NC, Bobby Parnell and wife Judy, of Albemarle, NC and Joe Parnell and wife Helen,of Thomasville, NC; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Hutchinson and Ann Elkins, two brothers, J.T. Parnell and Leroy Parnell.

A.L. was known by all to be a loving, kind, strong man who had a kind word for everyone he met. He was always selfless and willing to help everyone.  He loved to garden and share the bounty with everyone.  He also loved his daily Bojangles biscuit.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 1569 Troy-Candor Rd., Candor, with Julian Crooks officiating.  Burial will be in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Troy, NC.
