Anthony Worth Cox, "Tony" age 52, of Asheboro, died October 25, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center after several years of declining health. Mr. Cox was born January 21, 1955, the son of Paul William Cox, and Opal Coble Cox.
Tony was a native of Asheboro and graduated from Asheboro High School in 1973. He attended Sandhills Community College, studying Horticulture and Landscape Management. He was a member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, and worked in golf course management until 2000 at Country Club of North Carolina, and Carolina Trace in Sanford, North Carolina. He then worked for Eastern Turf Equipment Company in Fayetteville, North Carolina until 2004.
Tony had a love for golf, camping, and fishing. He was an avid sports fan of the North Carolina State Wolfpack. He was a good neighbor and friend to all he met. He had a special place in his heart for his two nephews, Christopher and Cameron, and his two favorite pets, Dusty and Tarheel. He faced his illness with great courage and always had a positive outlook. He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Coble Cox in 2004.
He is survived by his father, Paul William Cox of Mallard Ridge Assisted Living, formerly of Asheboro, his Sister, Paula Cox Navy and her husband, Randy James Navy of Winston Salem, Nephews, Christopher Michael Navy and his wife Sydney Roberts Navy of Winston Salem, and Cameron Jason Navy of Winston Salem. Also left to cherish his memory are several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many friends, including special friends from Mallard Ridge Assisted Living who will dearly miss him.
The family will see friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, with Reverend Doug Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
