Annie Mae Saunders

Annie Mae Smith Saunders, age 71, of Asheboro died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of her brother Bill Smith, 4869 Reeder Rd., Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Ms. Saunders was born in Dillon County, SC on March 8, 1943 to Hickman and Ethel Cook Smith. She moved to Randolph County in the early 1960's. Annie was retired from Klaussner Furniture after 34 years of service and was a member of Browers Wesleyan Church. In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her sister Weiness Smith. She is survived by sisters, Ethel Jane Elliott of Nichols, SC, Janie Jones and husband Milton of Mulberry, FL, Ella Jacobs and husband James of Asheboro; brothers, J.T. Smith of Asheboro, Theo Smith of Mebane, Bill Smith and wife Lois of Asheboro, Charlie Smith and wife Joyce of Randleman. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Randolph County for their care and concern during Annie's illness.
