Annie (Ann) Raines Stout, 93, died December 13, 2010 at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro.
She was born on October 25, 1917 near Ramseur, NC to William Henry and Lucy Brooks Raines.
After high school, she moved to Asheboro and worked at Bossong Hosiery Mill where she met Carl Clarence Stout, Jr. of Star, NC who would become her husband for 59 years. They were married on April 14, 1938.
Starting in the mid-1940's they owned and operated Stout's Poultry Market at 153 North Park Street. After Carl became a Woodmen of the World Field Representative, Annie went to work at Hop's Bar B Q, then to the Sir Robert Restaurant, finally retiring from Pinewood Country Club in the mid-80's.
In addition to her parents, her brothers William Raines, John Raines, Everett Raines and Brooks Raines and sister Lela Coonfare predeceased her. Her husband Carl died on January 28, 1998.
Survivors include her son, James Harvey Stout and wife Susan of Imperial Beach, CA; daughter, Ella Raines Stout Pozell of Washington, DC and grandson, Joseph Benjamin Pozell and fiancée Leigh Ann Cairns of Asheboro, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro on Friday, December 17th from 6-8 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 11AM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Holder officiating.

She was a woman of outstanding athleticism, energy and wit.
