Ruth Ann Smith Brown, age 67, of Asheboro died Friday, January 8, 2016 in Asheboro, NC.
Mrs. Brown was born May 18, 1948 in Randolph County to Raymond and Josephine Harvell Smith and was raised in the High Pine Community. Mrs. Brown was Vice-President of Fesmire-Brown Builders, an interior decorator and a baker. As a baker, she was co-owner of the Gingerbread House of Asheboro. Ann was formerly employed with Belk's of Asheboro. She also co-developed Pinecroft village in Asheboro where you will find Ann's court. She was a beloved mother and wife and a woman of many talents If you ever visited her home you could see her talent for painting and pottery. Her home was part of the Christmas Tour of homes in Asheboro, where you would see her love for all things Christmas. Entertaining was her passion; and her love for people showed by baking and opening her home. She was a volunteer with Randolph County School System and the Ann Brown award for volunteer service was established in her honor at South Asheboro Middle School.
She is survived by her husband: Carl Clarence Brown; daughter: Karla B. Woolard and husband Charles Wayne of Asheboro; brothers: Donald Smith and wife Brenda of Asheboro; Joseph M. Smith and wife Michelle of Charlotte; and Michael Smith of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at Ann's home 2500 Zoo Parkway. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Union Grove Christian Church Cemetery, 3985 Old NC Hwy 13 Asheboro.
