d. April 1, 2017

Ann Gregson Ingram, 75, passed away on April 1, 2017 under the exceptional care of Hospice House of Randolph. Her Celebration of Life will be held Thursday April 6, 2017 at Hope Community Church located at 4660 Brownsboro Rd, Winston-Salem, NC with visitation at 6:00 pm and service to immediately follow at 7:00 pm. Ann is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by daughters: Lori Whitley Hayes of Pleasant Garden, NC and DeAnn Ingram Leonard (Doug) of Charlotte, NC; brother: Jerry Gregson (Joyce) of Pleasant Garden, NC. Niece, Jennifer Gregson Prichard of Greensboro, NC thought of more as a daughter, and Great-Nephew, Connor Prichard. Ann was born on February 5, 1942 to Wilford Gregson and Chloe Routh Gregson of Pleasant Garden, NC. She began her school years at Providence before attending Randleman Elementary and graduating from Randleman High School. She remained active in many school activities throughout her life and the lives of her daughters including marching band, junior miss and dance. She and her brother enjoyed 4-H activities excelling at showing cows. They helped their parents around the small farm they owned. Ann began her career at Sears & Roebuck Co. and then J.P. Stevens & Co., Inc. Later, while working full-time, Ann went to night school to continue her education and earn a BA in Accounting with honors. She continued with many more distinguished years at Kayser-Roth Corporation, Plastics Color Corporation and went on to retire from Starmount Co. A hardworking and devoted mother she touched the lives of many. Prior to illness, she was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church and loved spending time with family. She was a lover of animals, in particular cats. Like her eldest daughter, she often rescued in excess unable to let them go hungry. Their latest love is a dog that was to be surrendered, but they took him in when they shouldn't and he gives them joy and love and they have no regrets. During her retirement Ann enjoyed cooking, genealogy and researching her family's history and was looking forward to the birth of her first grandson. Ann was blessed to have a devoted brother that loved her unconditionally and helped care for her throughout her battle with MS. In the early stages of diagnosis, her youngest cared for her. When it became clear she could no longer live, Ann moved back to her childhood home and her eldest daughter and her brother took over her care. In 2012, with the assistance of skilled and loving caretakers Ann moved into her home with her daughter allowing her to enjoy the last four and a half years her projects and her animals. Despite the disease, Ann's quality of life was extensive and she was happy. She went to church regularly until she became too sick and enjoyed many family gatherings and events. She enjoyed a full and blessed life. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Randolph County, the National MS Society or Hope Community Church. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of Ann's caregivers and medical support staff. They were instrumental in allowing her to remain active and continue her fight for many additional years.
