Ann Dahl Bulla

Ann Dahl Bulla, age 79, of Asheboro passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at her home.

Mrs. Bulla was born on August 13, 1944 in Natchez, MS to Baron and Ollie Dahl.

Mrs. Bulla received her degree in education at Meridith College in Raleigh, her master’s in education at the University of LaVerne in LaVerne, CA and further education at Mary Baldwin University in Stanton, VA.

Mrs. Bulla started her teaching career with 1st and 2nd grade at Cocoa Beach, FL, Greenville, SC, Erie, PA and Roanoke, VA. After retirement, she moved to her beloved Ocean Isle Beach and started a pre-school at St. Lukes Church where she was affectionally called “Miss Ann”. Upon word of her and her husband leaving Ocean Isle and moving to Asheboro, St. Lukes Church held a “Ann Bulla Day” in her honor and as a show of appreciation for all she had done for the community.

In her free time Mrs. Bulla enjoyed playing tennis, snow skiing and gardening.

As a lover of birds, she could often be found spending time with her beloved Macaw, Morgan, Conure, Girly, as well as birdwatching the wild birds in her own backyard.

Mrs. Bulla is survived by her husband, Charles Bulla; brothers, Baron Dahl, Jr., David Dahl (Candie) of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Doris Bulla of Sophia; two nieces and two nephews.

The family would like to thank the employees of Cross Road Memory Care Center for the love and care they showed Ann during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a contribution be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Western North Carolina, 4600 Park Rd., Suite 25, Charlotte, NC 28209 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the family.

“Our sweet, beautiful and deeply loved, Ann, is no longer battling Alzheimer’s. She has broke the bonds of this world and now rests in the arms of God. She left this world as she lived in it, beautifully and peacefully. She was a brilliant educator and positively impacted the lives of all who knew her. A gentle soul, with a selfless, loving heart, our world will be a little dimmer without her. But just look at how much brighter the Heavens seem to be shining.” Angela Montgomery/Niece
