Angela Looney

Angela “Angie” Denise Looney, age 64, of Asheboro passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024.
If you knew my mom, you knew she loved to sing and dance.  My fondest memories of my mom involved those two things, singing and dancing.   Many Saturday nights were spent moving the furniture, hairbrush microphones in hand, complete with choreographed moves to a Motown hit. Man, could she sing. And she was silly, so very silly, always ready to cut up and laugh. We all love to sing now and laugh, I’m sure she had a hand in it. 
Mom was a pretty mean card player, too.  Her friends were always welcome around the table for Rummy, Rook, or any other number of games.  Music in the background, the high stakes of bragging rights on the line, she loved it!  
Angie, mom, was born March 18, 1960 in Forsyth County. She was a floor supervisor with Prestige before retiring, and she most recently attended C4 church. My momma enjoyed shopping, antiquing and loved to give gifts. She also enjoyed traveling with her family. 
Mom could throw an event like no one’s business.  Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas - whatever the occasion, she had the right tablecloth for it, the perfect centerpiece and decorations to match, and a host of food and fun for all.  She always made sure her adult children had the same fun as the littles - our own egg hunt, scavenger gifts with coded names at Christmas, and whatever fixins we could eat. 
Angie is survived by her daughters, Mandi Whatley, Keisha Shaw (Bobby) and Bonnie Cagle all of Asheboro; grandchildren, Tanner, Kelsie, Madison, Michael, Adrianna, Alanah, Breanna and Ella; 4 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; brothers, Jerry Smith, Michael Smith (Betty) and her faithful companion, Lulu.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.  A memorial service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Torri Nelson officiating.
