Mr. Alton Thomas Maw, age 94, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.
Alton was born May 23, 1922 in Anderson, South Carolina, the son of Thomas L. and Ina Cardel Maw.
He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries with twenty years of service. He attended Troy Presbyterian Church and was a US Air Force veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed woodworking, making and flying remote controlled model airplanes. He was always jovial and a prankster.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Effie Hannah Maw; two brothers: Clarence Maw and Don Maw.
He is survived by two stepsons: James Charles Hannah and wife Jeana of Troy, Harold Eugene Hannah and wife Marie of Chiefland, FL; three step-grandchildren: Michele Hannah of Winston Salem, NC, Scott Hannah of Silver City, NM, and Tommy Hannah and wife Danica of Andrews, TX; one step-great-grandson: Clay Hannah of Andrews, TX.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Southside Cemetery, Troy with the Rev. Stephen Wilkinson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials may be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society, 1150 Okeewemee Rd., Troy, NC 27371 or to the Troy Presbyterian Church, 202 E. Main St., Troy, NC 27371.
