Alice A. Hamilton

Alice A. Hamilton, age 79, of Woodyard Rd., Mt. Gilead died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center, Main, Charlotte. Alice was born March 7, 1935 in Wilson County, NC, the daughter of Albert Floyd and Edna Elizabeth Smith Allen. She was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church and a former bus driver with 17 years of service for the Montgomery County Schools. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband: Thomas Loftin, siblings: Hazel Thompson, Ruby McIntyre, George Allen, Miley Allen and Mrs. Billie Allen. She is survived by her husband of ten years: Joe C Hamilton of the home; two daughters: Vera Kimble of Troy, Sandy Byrd of Asheboro; one son: Thomas Loftin, Jr. of Cheyenne, WY; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; stepdaughter: Susan Starnes; two sisters: Peggy Barrow of Little River, SC, Betty Lou Braddock of High Point, and one brother: Charles Allen of Trinity. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at her home. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 819 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Troy with Rev. Rodney Holmes and Rev. Kincy Barrow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
