Alfred Thomas “Tommy” Harris, age 81, of Asheboro passed away on January 9, 2024 at his home.
Mr. Harris was born in Alamance County on February 21, 1942 to Alfred and Iris Cox Harris, and in his youth, was a newspaper boy. Tommy was employed as a truck driver for 57 years. Tommy was a Godly man and read his Bible daily. He was a member of Mountain of Faith Church. He loved working on trucks, teaching others how to work on stuff and reading, and was very proud of his baseball skills. Tommy loved his family and was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Golda Harris; children, Tammy McPherson (Steve) of Snow Camp, Dean Harris (Kristie) of Asheboro, and Cam Allred (Reggie) of Ramseur; grandchildren, Jason McPherson Amanda), Heath McPherson (Lisa), Jake Harris, Daryn Trogdon (Skyler), Luke Trogdon, Seth Trogdon, Karey Harris, Ashton Confer (Kyle), Alec Allred (Lexie), and Aidan Allred; 8 great grandchildren; and sister, Martha Sue McCoy; various nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 11:00 am-12 noon at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Reggie Jordan officiating. Burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park.
