Albert R. Wilson, 87, died August 10, 2008, at his residence 3137 Grange Hall Road, Asheboro. He was born January 2, 1921, in Greensboro, son of Albert R. Wilson, Jr. and Louise Rankin Wilson. In 1943, he graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science in architecture. On December 19th of that year, he married Winifred Cooledge who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Naval ROTC at Georgia Tech and after graduation enlisted in the Navy where he served as a lieutenant in World War II and commanded a sub-chaser. After leaving the service, he joined Wachovia Bank in High Point where he spent a long career and retired as a Vice President in 1983. On December 13, 1990, he married Carolyn McArthur who survives of the home. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club. An avid boater and fisherman, he enjoyed countless hours on peaceful lakes and waterways, a passion he shared with friends and family. In addition to his wife Carolyn, he is survived by two children, Christopher H. Wilson and wife Susie, and Carolyn Wilson Hill and husband Ben, of High Point; five grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, Sharon Wilson Robitaille and husband Tim, and Michael Wilson and wife Julia, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Nathan Hill and wife Julie of Greenville, NC, and Evan Hill of Asheville, NC; and one great grandchild, Kaitlyn Robitaille. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, High Point, with visitation following the service.
