J. Albert Monroe, age 89, of 531 Kennedy Country Dr., Asheboro died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill as a result of an automobile accident.Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Browers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael W. Adams, Rev. Jeff Sypole and Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.Mr. Monroe was a native of Randolph County, an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Browers Chapel United Methodist Church. He was retired from Klopman Mills of Asheboro and was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Monroe Bowman. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Caviness Monroe; daughters, Jean Monroe Graham and her husband Mark of Asheboro, Dean Monroe Kearns and her husband John of Asheboro; son-in-law, Vernon Bowman of Asheboro; grandchildren, Sandy Kearns of Asheboro, John Carr Kearns of Randleman, Brian Kearns of Randleman, Amy Graham of Siler City, Josh Graham, James Bowman, Daniel Bowman, Derrick Bowman all of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Aticus Bowman of Asheboro, Keegan Kearns of Randleman, Easton Kearns of Randleman; friend, Kevin Harvel of Asheboro; sister, Rachel Dunlap of Robbins; brother, Richard Monroe of Aberdeen.The family will receive friends Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at his home.
