Albert Rufus Hicks, age 95, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation.
Mr. Hicks was a native of Davidson County and a member of Balfour Baptist Church. He was retired from Randolph County School garage and worked at Jim's Car Wash for over 20 years after his retirement. An avid NASCAR fan, Mr. Hicks's favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his sisters, Zulah Borland, Margie Roberson and Bennie Sink and brother, Charles Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, Cordelia Moffitt Hicks; daughter, Karen Hicks Hinson of Asheboro; sister, Lois H. Stewart of Winston-Salem.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2013 from 10:45-11:45 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
