Aileen Russell McRae

Aileen Russell McRae, of Mt. Gilead, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, North Carolina. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 6, from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 7 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion United Methodist Church, 398 Zion Church Rd., Mt. Gilead, N.C. with the Reverend Lee Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. McRae was a native of Troy, born to the late John Shirlie Russell and Sallie Mae Russell. She worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved cooking, singing in the choir at Zion Church, and spending time with her family. She also loved dancing and was a member of the Montgomery Line Strollers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Dee, four sisters, Levena Singleton, Lucille Overton, Doris Dennis and Bettye Cagle. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Finley Murphy McRae, and her brother, John Louis Russell, three children, Donna Jean (Tom) Keesler, Louis Finley (Julie) McRae, and Linda Sue (Bill) Howle, nine grandchildren, Beverly (Scott) Crymes, Russell Seegars, Randy (Ramona) Seegars, Townsend Langley, Jamie Howle, Gram Howle, Parker (Bridget) Howle, Christopher McRae, and Catherine McRae, and five great-grandchildren, Chance Seegars, Miranda Seegars, Duncan Seegars, Thomas Langley, Tyler Seegars, and Finley Howle.
