Agnes Rachel "Sissy" Swing, age 86, Asheboro died Monday, February 27, 2012 at her home.
Sissy was a charter member of First Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Asheboro. She was church organist for 35 years, and one of the organizers and directors of the first children's choirs of her church. She also was organizer, director and organist of the Golden Notes Choir. She was past secretary of the Ladies Circle and taught art lessons to the children and young adults.
Sissy graduated from Asheboro High School and attended Kings Business College in Greensboro until she accepted a secretarial position with Burlington Industries at the Central Falls plant. She retired from Burlington Industries Central Falls plant, where she was secretary to the plant manager and his staff for 40 years. After her retirement, she was the receptionist/secretary for her nephews at Banner Hosiery Mills, Inc. in Asheboro.
Sissy was born July 10, 1925 to the late Addie Hedrick and Charlie Hill Swing. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Addie Jo Swing, Ruth Swing Betts, Lena Swing Cliff and brothers, Marshall, Calvin, Ernest and Fred Swing.
Surviving is one brother, Richard H. Swing of High Point; sister-in-law, Gladys L. Swing of Winston-Salem; nieces, Anne Young Swing of Tampa, FL, Susan Swing Hatfield of Winston-Salem; nephews, Charles, Bobby and Frank Swing of Asheboro, Jim Swing of Winston-Salem, Jeff Swing of High Point, Marshall Swing of Mascoutah, IL; great niece, Michele Montgomery; great nephews, Thomas, B. J., Stewart, Will, Scott, Ethan, Joshua, Kevin, Josiah and Micah Swing; great-great nieces, Sarah Swing and Charlotte Swing.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 2, 2012 at First E & R United Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating.
