Willie Vernon Barnes

Willie Vernon Barnes, Jr., age 76, of Sophia passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Randolph Hospital. Mr. Barnes was born in Lexington on July 19, 1939 to Willie Vernon and Mary Hollingsworth Barnes. Willie served his country in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, and retired as a Staff Sergeant from the Army National Guard after 29 years of service. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his wife Vivian Gwyn Barnes. He is survived by daughters, Susan S. Warr of Randleman, Tammy Y. Kenyon of Asheboro, Donna B. Holland and husband Charlie of Trinity, Karen B. Marsh and husband Jimmy of Archdale; sons, Michael A. Stanley of Charlotte, Robert T. Barnes of Sophia, Terry W. Barnes of Asheboro, Ricky D. Ball of High Point; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.
