William Mark Strider, age 54, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Strider was born in Asheboro on April 12, 1967 to William Clayton and Carolyn Cross Strider. Mark was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, serving 2 overseas deployments, one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. He was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars. He was employed with Randolph Health as the Supply Chain Director. Mark was a member of Balfour Baptist Church. Mark was very involved in his community. He was a member of the Midstate Rotary Club, where he was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a former board member with Hospice of Randolph County and former board chair with Communities in Schools of Randolph County. Mark was a mentor at North Asheboro Middle School, where he coached both baseball and softball. Mark loved his entire family very much. He loved to play golf in his spare time and take care of his lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Ann Bennett Strider; son, Clayton August Strider of Charlotte; daughters, Brittany Carolyn Strider Melton (Josh) of Delaware, OH and Jillian Shiloh Strider of Charlotte; parents, Billy and Carolyn Strider of Asheboro; brother, Brian Clayton Strider (Mandy) of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren, Harper Mae Melton and Lillian Faye Melton; and nieces, Erin Paige Strider and Rylee Hope Strider. He is also survived by many additional loved ones in Ohio.
Mark's body will in repose on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 12 noon-5:00 pm and the family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Balfour Baptist Church, 1642 North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro with Rev. Gary Mason and Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating and with full military honors.
