Tommy Lee Hunter, Jr.

Tommy Lee Hunter, Jr., age 66, of Asheboro died Friday, July 12, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Mr. Hunter was born October 5, 1952 in Sanford, NC. Tommy was a loving husband and father who treasured his family and friends. He never knew a stranger. Tommy was an avid bowler and classic car enthusiast. He served in the U.S. Army and was trained in avionics. He was a long-distance truck driver for forty years and truly loved his work. Tommy had a true love of music of all genres and enjoyed fishing.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ina Gene Hunter; parents, Howard and Evelyn Latham; father, Tom Hunter Sr.; sister, Shirley Latham; and brothers, Craig and Jerome Latham.  

He is survived by his wife, Mary LaSala Hunter; children, Misty King (Rick) of Decatur, IL, Kelley Hunter of Colorado Springs, CO, Delisa Williams (Bryan) of Star, Tracey Maynor (Jamie) of Dallas, TX, and Christopher Maynor (Amy) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Kristen Chappell, Collin Douglas, Robert Douglas, Morgan Beaulieu, Tracey Beaulieu, Kellam Maynor, Austin Maynor, and Amber Maynor; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Quinn; grandpup, Sophie Adelita; sisters, Cynthia and husband Terry Freeman, Toni-Lynn Hart, Cheryl Brown and Hope Brim; sister-in-law, Rebecca Latham and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Pastor Bucky Davis officiating. Visitation will follow the service from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Randolph Cancer Center, specifically doctors McCarty, Theurerkorn, Mosher, and nurses Rae-Rae, Jennifer, and Dawn, and family primary care doctor of 22 years, Dr. John Gage, for their loving care.
