Peggy Elam Poole, age 77, formerly of Troy, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.
Peggy was born June 30, 1939 in Montgomery County, the daughter of Harvey Thomas and Edna Lillian McCaskill Elam.
She was a former chef, having worked in the food service industry for 30 years. She was of the Church of God faith, enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and visiting other patients at Autumn Care. She was a very jovial person.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Hoy Poole; brothers: Harvey Thomas Elam, Jr., and Harold Elam; granddaughter, Laura Keigh Kerney.
Peggy is survived by one daughter Edna Pearl Wallace of Rockingham; two sons: Hoy Scott Poole and wife Judy of Candor and John Stanley Poole and wife Deana and their two children and grandchild of Troy; eight other grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters: Rebecca Ann McCallum of Troy and Brenda Rose Elam of Biscoe; two brothers: Elsie Lee Elam of Biscoe and Donald Phillip Elam of Robbins.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 13, 2017 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home. Immediately following visitation, a graveside service will be held at 11 am at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Candor with Rev. Wayne VunCannon officiating.
