Lester Jennings Maness, age 81, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Maness was born in Bennett, NC on October 31, 1938 to James and Dossie Williamson Maness. Lester was the co-owner of Millikan's Sausage for over 40 years. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his daughter, Faith Maness Brewer, brothers, James and Cecil Maness, and sisters, Emma Maness and Edith Isabelle. Lester enjoyed playing sports with his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching westerns and was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Richard Petty.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margie Maness; daughter, Annette Watson and husband Donnie of Sophia; sons, Jennings Maness, Timothy Maness, and Tommy Maness all of Asheboro; grandchildren Amy Watson, Haley Redding and husband Dustin, Destiny Maness, Levi Brewer, and Sara Brewer; great grandchildren, Morgan Coble, Megan Coble, Josiah Maness, and Isaiah Maness; sister, Esther Lynch; and brother, Robert Maness and wife Carol.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Bouldin and Pastor Jeff Maness officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
