James Coleman "Jim" Banta, age 82, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Banta was born on November 14, 1936 in Hamilton County, TX to George and Alene Hyles Banta. He was a 1956 graduate of Hamilton High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962. Jim was retired from Ramseur Interlock. Jim enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and volunteering with CUOC, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pam Morisette Banta; daughter, Patty Banta of Asheboro; son, Jimmy Banta of Kernersville; granddaughter, Kailee Davis of Charlotte; grandson, Lucas Banta of Kernersville; brothers, Riley Banta and wife Carolyn, John Banta and wife Cynthia all of Texas; sisters, Marjorie Rudolph, Reba Johnson and husband Ray; Ruth Zschiesche and husband Will, and Nancy Banta all of Texas.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 12:30-1:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A memorial service will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Gawf officiating.
