Iris Miller Walker Gunter, age 85, formerly of Asheboro passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Siler City Center.
Mrs. Gunter was born in Asheboro on April 28, 1934 to Herbert and Katherine Muse Miller. She was employed as an LPN for 20 years and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husbands, Edgar Walker (1983) and Leonard Gunter (2016), son, Michael D. Walker, and sisters, Juanita Routh, Wilma Williamson, and Mildred Williamson. Iris was a patient, kind, and caring lady, who enjoyed traveling. She loved sewing, especially cheerleading outfits, wedding dresses, and clothing for the entire wedding party.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan A. Walker and wife Anita of Franklinville; daughters, Paula W. York and husband Terry of Asheboro and Sharon W. Greene and husband Anthony of Ramseur; stepson, John Gunter and wife Kyna of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Lester Miller of Virginia and Gilbert Miller of Asheboro; and sister, Helen Sanders of Biscoe.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with John Gunter officiating.
