Iris Parnell Haywood

Iris Parnell Haywood, age 85, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Haywood was born in Richmond, VA on July 15, 1930 to Filmore and Beulah Boyd Parnell. She loved the beach and was retired from Holden Beach Properties. Iris was a member of Wadeville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Pressley Haywood and brother Wayne Parnell, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Tony Filmore Haywood of Raleigh and Jeffrey Pressley Haywood of Asheboro; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; brothers, Raymond Parnell of Locust and Jerry Parnell of Norwood; and sisters, Janice Fowler of Matthews and Dawn Lemons of Oxford. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wadeville Baptist Church, 144 Shoe Factory Rd., Mt. Gilead with Rev. Jim Hunsucker and Rev. Tony Medlin officiating.
