Larry Young Mills, age 69, of Asheboro died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Mills was born July 1, 1948 in Charleston, SC to Fred and Hazel Hicks Mills. 

He played football at Mississippi State and served in the US Air Force for 3 years in Korea.  Mr. Mills was married for 50 years to Frances Claire Mills and they had 3 children.  Larry was formerly employed with Sigma Engineering and later as a construction superintendent with Devere Construction and Welty Construction.  Some of the many projects that he worked on were the FBI Building in Knoxville, TN, Wheatmore High School and Providence Grove High School.  He was active with the Boy Scouts and was a mentor to many scouts while they were completing their Eagle Scout projects.  Larry was active with the Southwestern Randolph athletics and booster club.   In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Mills; son, Terry Joseph "T.J." Mills and daughter, Jennalee Young Mills.

He is survived by his daughter, Elisabeth "Liz" Anne Arrowood and husband Samuel of Asheville; granddaughters, Chrystal Arrowood Eastman, Sydney Arrowood, Taylor Arrowood all of Asheville; grandson, Camden Y. Mills of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Braelyn Arrowood Eastman, William Holcombe, Kataleya Eastman all of Asheville; 1 sister and 2 brothers and a very special close family friend, Jamie Yarborough.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.
