Obituary of Robert Anderson
Pastor Robert Lee Anderson, age 90, of Troy went home Friday morning, June 9, 2017, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor, NC. Pastor Anderson was born May 7, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the son of Opal E. and Stella Mayberry Anderson.
Pastor Anderson was a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX and was a Minister for over 60 years.
He served his country during WWII in the Navy. He worked with the Eskimos on a special government project building the Distant Early Warning Line in the Arctic.
He is celebrating his new life in Heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ, his parents, his wife Janell Burdick Anderson, and a daughter, Karolyn Billhiemer.
He is survived by daughters - Ronell Ruhlandt of Grand Rapids, MI, and Lucinda Bauman of Taylor, MI; sons – Steven Anderson of Austin TX, and Jim Anderson of Mt. Gilead, NC; 11 grandchildren ; 11 great grandchildren
Service to God was always first in his life, followed by the love and care of his family. He loved history and he loved his country.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead, NC. From 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, with Rev. Dave Wensil officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
