Karen Parsons Williams, age 61, of Mt. Gilead, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Karen was born July 27, 1955 in Randolph County, but lived the majority of her life in Montgomery County. She was the daughter of Charlie Clyde and Louise Brown Parsons, both of whom precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by a nephew: Ritchie Parsons.
She was a member of Troy Wesleyan Church, a retired public educator with thirty-one and one-half years of service at Troy Elementary School, K-1 grades.
She was so proud of teaching so many children to read during her career. “My Wife” was a 2nd mother to so many children. She was nurturing, loving, appreciative and always placed other’s wants and needs before her own. She loved playing tennis.
She is survived by her husband: C. Neil Williams of the home; two daughters: Ashley Williams of Mt. Gilead and Anna Williams (Robert Lillie, Jr.) of Greensboro; one grandson: Deacon Lillie; two brothers: Charlie Parsons (Shirley) of Troy and Jerry Parsons, also of Troy; two nieces: Amy Ward and Sarah Parsons; one nephew: Taylor Parsons and two great nephews: Hunter Hagins and Charlie Hagins; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jim and Ruby Williams; special friend: Dawn Yarboro.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4:00pm – 6:00 pm at the home of Charlie and Shirley Parsons, 242 Fox Den Road, Holly Hills Subdivision, Troy. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 11:00 am – 12:45 pm at Troy Wesleyan Church, 842 Ophir Ave, Troy. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Daniel Shuskey and Rev. James Brewer officiating. Interment will be at Wadeville Independent Methodist Church Cemetery, Wadeville, N.C.
