Jesse James Jordan, Jr. passed away on January 16, 2017 at Hospice of Randolph, in Asheboro.
Jesse was born September 5, 1943 in Brookville, Fla. He grew up in Greensboro where he attended school at Curry, and graduated from Grimsley Senior High. While a Junior at Curry, he met Marlis Jones, to whom he was married for 17 years.
Jesse spent his entire career in service to country and community. After 3 years in the U.S. Army, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. After 24 years of active military service, he retired at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Upon retiring from the military, he became a Deputy Sheriff and retired a second time with 18 years in law enforcement.
Jesse was preceded in death by parents James E. and Hilda S. Clarke of Greensboro, and sister Patricia Johnson. He is survived by sons; Joel J. Jordan and wife Pamela of Greensboro, James G. Jordan of Randleman and his daughter Jennifer J. and husband Robert S. Rich of Sophia; grandchildren Justin A. Freeman and wife Logan of Sophia, Jacob B. Freeman of Sophia, Brittany S. Rich and Brandy A. Rich of Greensboro, Robert K. Rich of Randleman, Jesse James R. Jordan and Joshua B. Jordan of Randleman.
A Memorial service for Jesse will be held at College Place United Methodist Church in Greensboro, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dr. Jason Harvey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Jesse requested memorials be contributed to Wounded Warrior Project, Hospice of Randolph County or Saint Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
