Gregg "Spanky" Larry Bunting

Gregg "Spanky" Larry Bunting, age 46, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his home. Mr. Bunting was born in Guilford County on September 14, 1970 to Larry and Betty Purvis Bunting. He was a 1988 graduate of Asheboro High School and was the President of Bunting Equipment Company, Inc. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Bunting and his favorite dog, Dingo. Spanky never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He enjoyed listening to Bluegrass and was an avid bowler, golfer, and UNC fan. Spanky loved drag racing and his Ford Mustang drag car that he affectionately named "Ruby", boating at Badin Lake, but most of all loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Shaw Bunting; mother, Betty Purvis Bunting; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carson and Elaine Shaw; brother-in-law, Mickey Shaw and wife Pam; and niece and nephew, Dillon and Addie Shaw all of Asheboro. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A private graveside service will be held. Mr. Bunting's body will lie in state on Tuesday from 1:00-9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ruff Love Rescue, P.O.
