Lane Cecil Fesmire, 84, of 214 East Elk Street, Siler City died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.

Mr. Fesmire was born January 8, 1926 the son of Emmett A. and Myrtle (Phillips) Fesmire. He was born in Guilford County. He had worked with Southland Life Insurance, the Town of Ramseur Water Department and retired from the Siler City Water Department. He was a member of Edwards Hill Friends Meeting where he had served as church treasurer and a member of the Young Adult Sunday School Class. Lane was a NASCAR fan and a Navy veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Joyce (McDaniel) Fesmire; two daughters: Lana F. Collins of Durham, NC, Ellen F. Seagroves and husband, David of Siler City, NC; one brother: Paul Fesmire of Siler City, NC and a granddaughter, Jessica Seagroves of Siler City, NC.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The memorial service will be Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Edwards Hill Friends Meeting with Josh Conrad officiating.
