JoAnn Brooks Kirkman, age 78, of 318 Bear Creek Church Road, Goldston died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the family home. Mrs. Kirkman was born July 5, 1932 the daughter of Charlie and Pearl (Mason) Brooks.

Mrs. Kirkman was a native of Chatham County and was a member of Goldston Baptist Church. She retired from the Clerk of Courts Office in Pittsboro, NC, and also retired from the UNC Chapel Hill as a travel auditor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman R. Kirkman.

She is survived by her sons: Robert Neil Kirkman of Goldston, NC, John Mark Kirkman of Sanford, NC, Joel Brooks Kirkman of Goldston, NC and Paul Jason Kirkman of Goldston, NC
Grandchildren, Colby Justin Kirkman, Corey Lane Kirkman and Madison Brooks Kirkman, brother: Charles Brooks of Pittsboro, NC, sisters: Hazel Dixon of Sanford, NC, Francis Williams of Pittsboro, NC.

The family will receive friends Tuesday August 24, 2010 from 9:30-10:45 AM at Goldston UMC Church. The graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday August 24, 2010 at Goldston Cemetery, 185 Hillcrest Ave., Goldston with Rev. David Hicks officiating.
