|  Virgil Whitt Sexton, age 72, of 4959 Watercrest Trail, Asheboro died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 4836 Robbins Circle Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Jody Harrison and Rev. Brian Cole officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Sexton was a native of Galax, VA and had lived in Randolph County since 1966. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from the Harris-Teeter Transportation Division. Virgil was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joy Poe Sexton; daughter, Debbie Sexton Russell and her husband Steve of Trinity, NC; son, Dennis Wayne Sexton of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Robert Steve Russell and Jesse Dale Russell; sisters, Peggy Sexton Dickens of Galax, VA, Wanda Sexton Pulliam of High Point, NC; and brother, Eugene Sexton of Mt. Airy, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4836 Robbins Circle Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.  | |||
