Wade Mont Ward, Jr., 85, of 7166 Jordan Road, Ramseur died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.

Mr. Ward was born September 13, 1924 the son of Wade Mont and Lela (McMasters) Ward, Sr. Mr. Ward was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Ithaca Hosiery in Robbins. He was a volunteer with the Broadway Fire Department, served for 20 years with the Robbins Rescue Squad and was a member of the Robbins Masonic Lodge. Wade was a charter member of the Randolph County Rescue Squad, a member and a former deacon of the Staley Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Universal Health Care of Ramseur for their attention during Wade Mont's illness.

He is survived by his wife: Estelle (Siler) Ward and one son: William "Eddie" Ward and wife, Vanessa of Siler City, NC; two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 12, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Staley Cemetery.
